Multinational Exercise AMAN 2021 formally commenced today under the aegis of Pakistan Navy with a colorful flag hoisting ceremony with Navy band playing national songs.

Ships of the participating navies, observers, foreign diplomats and a large number of Pakistan Navy officers and men attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Commander Pakistan Fleet Rear Admiral Naveed Ashraf welcomed participants of the Multinational Exercise AMAN 2021.

Commander Pakistan Fleet hoped that their presence/togetherness will forge a cooperation, yet brotherhood which will prevent conflicts and should there be one, we will quickly resolve it to establish and maintain lasting peace. He also valued participating nations for supporting Pakistan’s resolve for ensuring peace in the region.

During the ceremony, the message of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Muhammad Amjad Khan Niazi was also read out.

The Commander of 25th Destroyer Squadron Commodore Imtiaz Ali read the message of Chief of the Naval Staff Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi.

As per the message, the Naval Chief welcomed the participating countries of the exercise and said participation from so many countries really describes the motto of the exercise which is ‘Together for Peace’.

He said that Pakistan Navy is ever ready to play a positive role for the peace in the region.

The Naval Chief in his message said Pakistan Navy has taken several initiatives for maritime security and promote peace in the waters of the region.

He said one such initiative is Regional Maritime Security Patrol (RMSP) to make the waters safe for maritime activities and keep a check at all the illegal activities.

Admiral Mohammad Amjad Khan Niazi said these exercises are clear message to all the peace loving countries to come together for peace. He hoped that camaraderie expressed here will continue in the future.

AMAN is a multinational naval exercise conducted biennially by Pakistan Navy since 2007. The exercise is based on Pakistan Navy lead initiative to bring in various navies under one umbrella.

The current exercise is 7th in the series. The exercise has a growing number of participants. This year 45 nations are participating through ships, aircrafts, Special Operating Forces, Observers and speakers.

One of the key features, other than sea exercise, is international maritime conference spread over three days, being organized by National Maritime Policy Research Centre.
