The novel coronavirus has claimed 26 more lives in Pakistan in a single day taking the national toll of fatalities to 11,683.

According to the latest statistics by the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), as many as 1,615 new cases of coronavirus surfaced in the country during the last 24 hours after the tests of 34,785 people.  So far, 501,252 people have recovered from the disease.

The total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in the country has soared to 546,428. Whereas, there are a total of 33,493 active cases.

Sindh has reported a total of 247,249 infections, Punjab 157,796, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa 67,214, Balochistan 18,823, Islamabad 41,418, Azad Jammu and Kashmir 9,019, and Gilgit Baltistan 4,909.

Today, taking to twitter, the State Health Minister Dr. Faisal Sultan thanked China and everyone who made this happen and said the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC) and provinces played an instrumental role in tackling COVID.

“I salute our frontline healthcare workers for their efforts & they’ll be first to get vaccinated,” he tweeted.

Pakistan received the first batch of Coronavirus Vaccine earlier this morning. A special plane of Pakistan Air Force (PAF) landed at Noor Khan Airbase in Islamabad with 500, 000 vials of the vaccine from China.

NCOC, in this regard said that all necessary measures have been put in place for vaccine storage in Islamabad and the move of vaccines to various federating units particularly to Sindh and Balochistan through the air.
