Dow University employees have threatened to boycott the vaccination campaign over non-payment of risk allowance.

In this regard, the Dow University of Health Sciences Employees Joint Action Committee announced to stage a strong protest if risk allowance is not paid by the administration immediately.

Grand Health Alliance Sindh said that the scrutiny will continue till the demands are approved. The demands include permanent health risk allowance, service structure and martyrs package.

The Joint Action Committee has said that grades 1 to 16 should be given allowance of Rs 17,000 per month and grades 17 and above should be given Rs 35,000 per month.

Health Risk Allowance should be given to all front line health workers as per the letter issued by the government but the administration is giving the allowance only to specified people.

The Joint Action Committee warned to end the discriminatory behavior otherwise the health workers will not take COVID-19 jabs.

The committee demanded that Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah to issue orders for immediate payment of risk allowance to all employees including the Vice Chancellor.

On the other hand, Pakistan recorded 1,072 fresh infections of the coronavirus and 62 more deaths in the past 24 hours.

According to the statistics of the National Command and Operation Centre (NCOC), the overall death toll has surged to 12,128.

In the past 24 hours, as many as 1,441 patients have recovered from the virus in a day and 1,797 patients are still in critical condition. The total count of active cases is 30,512.
