Haleem Adil Sheikh Was Attacked In Murtaza Bhutto Style: Shibli Faraz

Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Senator Shibli Faraz has demanded the immediate release of Haleem Adil Sheikh, Leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly from the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

During a media briefing in Islamabad, he described Haleem Adil Sheikh as a tiger of PTI and a brave opposition leader.

It may be recalled that Haleem Adil Sheikh was arrested in the PS-88 Malir constituency on charges of spreading tension, firing, attempted murder and terrorism.

He said that ever since he became the Leader of Opposition in the Provincial Assembly and the manner he was exposing the corruption of Sindh government, the worst attitude of political revenge was being adopted against him.

Shibli Faraz said that the revenge of the Sindh government against Haleem Adil Sheikh has escalated to such an extent that the provincial government is violating the law, his farmhouse was demolished and the stay order was ignored.

He said that the attitude of the Sindh government against Haleem Adil Sheikh dates back to the 70s.

In addition, Shibli Faraz said that Raza Rabbani threw Benazir’s Pact of Democracy in the trash.

He said that Haleem Adil Sheikh was attacked in Murtaza Bhutto style.

He said that the plight of Sindh has exposed where hospitals and law and order situation was deteriorating and clean water was not available.

Shibli Faraz said that the Sindh government had thrown away the Pact of Democracy signed by Benazir Bhutto by making statements in the Senate on the usefulness of a secret ballot.

The federal minister said that PPP government machinery was used illegally in the by-elections and PTI workers were harassed in Tharparkar.

He said that Haleem Adil Sheikh has been detained under terrorism charges which is intolerable.

Earlier, the leader of the Opposition in the Sindh Assembly Haleem Adil Sheikh has claimed that he killed a poisonous snake that appeared inside the prison where he is being kept on the orders on the court.

Haleem Adil Sheikh was presented before the anti-terrorism court in Karachi after the completion of his physical remand that was given to the police for violating law and order during the Malir by-election.

In an informal conversation with the reporters in the court premises, Haleem Adil Sheikh said that he was rattled when he saw a four feet long black cobra in his room.

Haleem Adil Sheikh said that DSP Aftab Alam is also a witness, he also saw a snake. DSP Aftab Alam also confirmed the incident.

Moreover, the spokesman of Haleem Adil Sheikh in his statement said the Sindh government would be held responsible if anything happened to Haleem Adil Sheikh.
