Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has emphasised on the international community not to overlook genocidal measures taken by the Indian Army in occupied Jammu and Kashmir.
During the function in solidarity with Kashmiris in Islamabad, Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India has imposed barbaric laws against Kashmiris’ right to self-determination.
He said that when millions of Kashmiris were facing evictions and genocide from the occupying forces of India, the international community could not turn a blind eye to it.
Shah Mehmood Qureshi said that India does not recognize the right of Kashmiris to self-determination which is before the international community, the UN resolutions are the promises of the international community on the Kashmir issue while India is constantly violating it.
He said that India’s human rights violations in occupied Jammu and Kashmir were a challenge to all and India could not consider the disputed region as its internal affair.
“I acknowledge that the international community has raised its voice on the humanitarian crisis in Occupied Jammu and Kashmir. The steps taken by many human rights organizations, international media, civil society and many parliaments to address the Jammu and Kashmir issue,” he said.
The Foreign Minister said that any move was not enough until the legal right of Kashmiris was recognized.
“I urge the international community to condemn India and force it to immediately end the ongoing military blockade and inhumane treatment in Kashmir,” he said.
He said that India should remove obstacles and communication barriers and allow free movement and assembly.
The Foreign Minister demanded immediate release of the detained political leadership of Occupied Kashmir and allow them to express the aspirations of Kashmiris and repeal the domicile law imposed in Occupied Kashmir and revoke the illegal domicile.
He also called for access to human rights organizations, international media and observers in occupied Kashmir and called for an immediate end to ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) and the Working Boundary.
He said that the international community should urge India to immediately stop state terrorism in occupied Jammu and Kashmir and fulfill the promise of transparent and free referendum so that Kashmiris can fulfill their aspirations in accordance with UN resolutions.
