KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) Sukkur Bench has said that the MPA of the area where the dog bite incident will take place, will be suspended.

A case related to the bite of stray dogs was heard in the Sindh High Court Sukkur Bench in which the court gave stern remarks.

During the hearing, Justice Aftab Ahmed remarked that the MPA of the area where the dog bite took place would be suspended.

On this, the public prosecutor said that MPAs have nothing to do with the incidents of dog bites. The honourable judge said that they knew to whom the respective officers paid commissions adding that the MPA must ensure people’s safety.

The court said that the MPA of the place where the dog bite incident took place would not be able to vote in the Senate elections as well.

During the hearing in the Sukkur Bench of the Sindh High Court, the officers presented reports on which the court expressed dissatisfaction and adjourned the hearing till March 16.

Note that, in March last year, the Sindh High Court took notice of dog-bite incidents in the province, with the majority of cases being reported in Umerkot, and directed the local government secretary and the task force chairman to submit reports, stating that what efforts are being made to provide medical treatment to the victims.

Justice Mohammad Ali Mazhar expressed concerns about media reports with regard to dog-bite incidents and the shortage of vaccination in government hospitals.

The court directed the local government secretary and the task force chairman to immediately inquire about the incidents and submit the report as to what efforts were being made to provide medical treatment to the victims.
