NA-221 Tharparkar by-election: Fire Breaks out in polling station

A fire broke out at a polling station at Government Boys Primary School during the by-election in NA-221 Tharparkar.

According to the details, the ballot papers and boxes were reduced to ashes due to the fire. Police said that a fight broke out between PTI and PPP supporters. SSP Hassan Sardar said that the polling has been affected by fire and the top electoral body, Election Commission of Pakistan has been notified about the incident.

At least 4000 cops have been deployed in the constituency for maintaining the law and order situation.

Sindh Rangers is also deployed at sensitive and highly sensitive polling stations along with the installation of 200 CCTV cameras at various stations.

Let it be known that the NA-221 became vacant after Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) MNA Pir Noor Muhammad Gilani lost his life due to coronavirus in December 2020.
