Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi met with Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi in Cairo and discussed with him the geopolitics of Pakistan and said that the two countries could also share their experiences on counter-terrorism and counter-extremism efforts.

According to the national news agency APP, during his official visit to Egypt, the Foreign Minister said that the purpose of the visit was to strengthen the roots of common beliefs, culture and values ​​of Pakistan with the African country.

A statement issued by the Foreign Office said that Shah Mehmood Qureshi conveyed the good wishes of the Pakistani leadership to the Egyptian President.

According to the Foreign Office, Shah Mehmood Qureshi emphasized that the vision of a “new Pakistan” was foreshadowed by economic ties and ensuring peace within and outside our borders.

Highlighting the decades-long bilateral relations between the two countries, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi expressed Pakistan’s desire to further strengthen and diversify relations.

He also briefed the Egyptian President on various opportunities to strengthen bilateral ties in the multilateral and multilateral arena.

The Foreign Minister said that the two countries could also share their experiences in the fight against terrorism and extremism.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi in particular condemned the ongoing human rights violations in India’s illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IOJK) and the continued denial of the legitimate rights of the Kashmiri people. FM Qureshi also Informed the Egyptian President about Pakistan’s efforts to facilitate the Afghan peace process.

He emphasized that Pakistan has always supported the resolution of differences through dialogue and diplomacy.

In addition, according to the Foreign Office, the Egyptian President expressed hope that the Foreign Minister’s visit would pave the way for bilateral relations and dynamic multilateral cooperation.

Shah Mehmood Qureshi also met his counterpart in Egypt Sameh Hassan Shoukry.

The Foreign Minister met with the Pakistani community in Egypt as well as the Egyptian business community and discussed investment opportunities in Pakistan and the incentives offered by the government to foreign investors.

According to Radio Pakistan, Shah Mehmood Qureshi visited Cairo at the invitation of Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Hassan Shoukry.

Before leaving for Cairo, Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi had said in a video message that Egypt is an important country of the Muslim Ummah which is also called the gateway to Africa.

He had said that he was leaving for a two-day visit to Egypt at the invitation of the Egyptian Foreign Minister to promote relations with this important country.
