Pakistan and Turkey have kick started joint military exercise ATATURK-XI 2021 that will last three weeks.

The joint military exercise will further strengthen the bond of two brotherly nations and will help in adapting the emerging trends in military modernization and cooperation.

Back in 2019, Pakistan Navy Special Services Group (SSGN) and Turkish Navy Special Forces, Su Alti Taarruz (SAT), successfully completed a joint exercise, AYYILDIZ in Karachi.

The exercise included training in anti-terrorism, hostage rescue, counter-terrorism in the maritime domain, and intelligence-based operations.

The 12-day exercise was aimed at strengthening military relations, inter-operability and to exchange professional expertise of the Special Forces.

This was the 12th exercise in the AYYILDIZ series, which is an annual feature between Pakistan and Turkey and reflects the strong bilateral military ties between the two countries.

It is worth mentioning here that Pakistan and Turkey have collaborated on various defence forums and taken part in multilateral exercises.

Pakistan and Turkey have maintained long-standing military ties. Both nations have sought to expand cooperation to fight terrorism. Both countries are also members of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation.
