Prime Minister PM Imran Khan on Wednesday said that he had an extensive and fruitful discussion with the President of Sri Lanka Gotabaya Rajapaksa on boosting trade ties between the two countries.

According to the details, Prime Minister Imran Khan took to his Twitter handle and said that he had an excellent meeting with President of Sri Lanka.

Imran Khan wrote:

Had an excellent mtg with President of Sri Lanka @GotabayaR. We discussed our common passion about poverty alleviation esp in our rural areas. We also exchanged views on how to give farmers more for their produce & get cheaper food & fruits to the population by using technology to eliminate middle men.

Imran Khan continued that the discussion also focused on strengthening political relations for mutual benefits.

We also discussed other dimensions of our extensive ties to strengthen political & trade ties for our mutual benefit.

Imran Khan also inaugurated Sri Lanka’s High Performance Sports Complex.

He said in his tweet:

I inaugurated Sri Lanka’s High Performance Sports Complex. It was great to meet the Sri Lankan cricket greats invited on the occasion who had played against me.

On the other hand, today Leader of the Opposition in Sri Lanka Sajith Premadasa also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan in Colombo and expressed gratitude from his party to the Prime Minister for his important visit to Sri Lanka.

He conveyed best wishes for the progress and prosperity of Pakistan under the leadership of Prime Minister Imran Khan.

Earlier in the day while addressing the first Pakistan-Sri Lanka Trade and Investment Conference in Colombo on Wednesday, he said the way forward for the sub-continent is to resolve differences and improve trade relationship.

He said our difference is only Kashmir issue, which should be resolved as per the UN resolutions. He said differences can only be resolved through dialogue.

The Prime Minister said our problems are subservient to trade and investment. Imran Khan said he came to politics with the dream of a welfare state and poverty alleviation.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka which enjoy warm ties, aim to boost trade ties during Imran Khan’s maiden visit to the island nation.
