All activities of the National Assembly have been partially suspended due to increasing cases of coronavirus.
According to the details, the administration department of the National Assembly in a notification issued on Sunday stated that amid the surge in the cases of a novel coronavirus, all activities have been partially suspended.
According to the notification, the Secretariat offices have also been closed for two days to prevent the spread of the deadly virus. Meetings of the National Assembly Standing, Public Accounts and Special Committees were canceled. Offices will be closed until March 16.
The Administration Department has also urged the Capital Development Authority (CDA) to take immediate action and disinfect all the offices of the Assembly.
Moreover, all the officeholders and relevant staff have been advised to immediately undergo PCR in case of any symptom of COVID-19.
The notification stated that from March 17, the officeholders will call only necessary staff and nobody will be allowed to enter the assembly premises without a mask. Moreover, from March 17, office hours will be from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Pakistan, over the last 24 hours, reported 2,664 new cases, 32 deaths and 1,275 recoveries from the novel coronavirus. The active cases toll now stands at 21,121.
According to the National Command and Operations Centre (NCOC), the total number of confirmed cases jumped to 605,200 with 13,508 deaths. Whereas the country has reported 570,571 recoveries so far.
National Command and Operation Center has also shown serious concern on rising positivity of COVID-19 in the country and asked the citizen to once again display a good example of social behaviour and follow SOPs for collective good.
