Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Co-chairman Asif Ali Zardari has on Tuesday completely refused the resignations of his party lawmakers from assemblies at any cost.
Addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting via video link, Asif Zardari asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan for the conclusive political battle.
He had asked Mian Nawaz Sharif to fly back to Pakistan and then the PPP party lawmakers would submit their resignations to him.
The former President also reminded, “Mass resignations will only strengthen the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.”
“If Nawaz Sharif is serious in his battle for democracy, then he should fly back to the country,” added Zardari.
“Everyone will have to face the hardships in this battle if we are in for a decisive battle (for democracy),” he added more.
The PPP Co-chairman also recalled that his party during their tenure from 2008 to 2013, had strengthened the parliament, helped the country to prosper and grown and was “punished” for these “pro-democratic” moves.
He went on to add, “PDM long march can only be a successful show if Nawaz Sharif returns to the country.”
“We mobilized the whole country when Benazir Bhutto Shaheed returned to the country in 1986 and 2007 and PDM should also prepare for a long march on the same footing,” said Zardari.
