Coronavirus: 2,253 new cases reported, lockdown imposed in Punjab

The third wave of coronavirus pandemic has entered Pakistan. Consequently, the lockdown has been imposed in seven cities in Punjab from today (Monday).

As per the details, the lockdown has been imposed in cities including f Lahore, Rawalpindi, Sargodha, Faisalabad, Multan, Gujranwala, and Gujrat.

An official notification has been issued by the Punjab Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department according to which people will not be allowed to move more. Social religious and other gatherings will be prohibited.

In addition to these, public or private marriage halls, community centers, and marquees will not be allowed to open. Indoor and outdoor dining will be banned whereas takeaway and home delivery will be allowed.

On the other hand, hospitals, medical stores, bakeries, general stores, milk, meat, and chick shops, petrol pumps, and fruits shop will remain open.

The notification states that there has been a constant increase in positive cases in Punjab and it is a serious threat to public health.

Sports, cultural, and other activities will be suspended.

Coronavirus in Pakistan

According to the latest updates by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 29 Covid-19 patients have died whereas 2,253 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours.

The death toll has reached 13,537 whereas the number of total cases has reached 607,453. Over 44,061 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours whereas 571,878 patients have recovered so far.
