The Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has nominated Yousuf Raza Gilani for the post of Chairman Senate.
Sources said that Yousuf Raza Gilani was nominated for the post of Senate Chairman by the PPP in the PDM summit today. The PDM approved him for the post of Chairman Senate.
According to sources, PML-N and Awami National Party have also announced their support for Yousuf Raza Gilani for the chairmanship of the Senate.
Yousuf Raza Gilani said that he was grateful to the PDM and attributed the success of the Senate seat to them. The rulers are not digesting this defeat.
Sources also said that in the meeting, Nawaz Sharif suggested to the PPP to nominate Yousuf Raza Gilani for the chairmanship of the Senate, and Nawaz Sharif also announced his support for Yousuf Gilani.
Earlier, Asif Ali Zardari delivered introductory remarks at the PPP-hosted Pakistan Democratic Movement (PSD) summit. He congratulated PDM unanimous candidate Yousuf Gilani on his victory.
On the other hand, the Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid-e-Azam (PML-Q) has apologized for voting for Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidate Yousuf Raza Gilani.
This was revealed during a meeting between PML-Q leaders Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain and Pervez Elahi with PPP chairman Bilawal Bhutto, who apparently tried to open a new front for the PTI. He also had a separate meeting with Punjab President Hamza Shahbaz.
Sources familiar with the development said that during the two meetings, possible options for replacing the Cheif Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar government and cooperation in the March 12 election for Senate chairman were discussed.
