Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi, who is currently in Tajikistan, has on Wednesday (today) visited the monument of the founder of the Tajik Empire Ismoil Somoni.
The Foreign minister laid a floral wreath at the memorial to pay tribute to Ismoil Somoni.
Pakistani Ambassador to Tajikistan Imran Haider, Foreign Secretary Sohail Mehmood and senior officials were also present.
Taking to Twitter, FM Qureshi shared his experience as he had the privilege of paying homage to the Monument of Ismoil Somoni.
He wrote, “Privileged to end my visit to Tajikistan by paying homage to the Monument of Ismoil Somoni, Founder of the great Tajik nation. Thank you to the Government and people of Tajikistan for a great trip.”

Earlier in the day, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi said that Pakistan will extend maximum facilitation to the businessmen from Tajikistan.
Pakistan and Tajikistan have agreed to promote economic and trade relations. This was decided at the delegation-level. Pakistan’s delegation was led by Shah Mahmood Qureshi.
After the delegation-level talks, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi held a joint press conference Tajik counterpart Sirodjidin Muhriddin said that said both countries have agreed to reactivate joint working groups to promote cooperation in different fields.
“Encouragement of entrepreneurs and businessmen of both sides is the need of time to promote trade relations between Pakistan and Tajikistan,” Qureshi added.
He further said that Pakistan is ready to further assist Tajikistan to build its military capabilities. He said we welcome more officers from Tajikistan into the military institutions and Foreign Service Academy of Pakistan.
