Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi discusses matters related to mutual interest with the Foreign Minister of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud.

In his Tweet, FM Qureshi said, “Good to speak to HH Foreign Minister @FaisalbinFarhan and connect on matters of mutual interest. Pakistan lauds the Kingdom’s #SaudiGreenInitiative and #MiddleEastGreenInitiative focussing on tackling climate change, a global issue of key priority for our PM and Pakistan.”

He further added that Pakistan has lauded the government’s “Saudi Green Initiative“, announced by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, to tackle climate change.

Earlier in the day, Mohammad Bin Salman has announced two major steps to tackle climate change. The two initiatives will strongly contribute to achieving the global objectives, the Crown Prince said.

In his statement, the Crown Prince said, “Saudi Arabia and the region are facing many environmental challenges, such as desertification, which threaten the regional economy.”

He further said, “Green Saudi Arabia and Green Middle East initiatives aim to clarify a clear roadmap that will keep the planet safe, and protect it from adverse effects on the environment.”

Mohammad bin Salman said that Saudi Arabia is a big oil-producing country and it will also fulfill its responsibility for the environmental change.

“The kingdom is going to become a world leader in making the world green,” he added.

“We are also fully aware of our responsibility to provide clean climate resources, for which we will take all possible steps. Despite this, we are also facing many challenges due to climate change,” added the Crown prince.
