The National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has advised the provincial governments to take strict actions on violations of COVID-19 related health protocols.

According to the details, a meeting was held in Islamabad on Monday with Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar in the chair.

The meeting asked the provinces to ensure that SOPs in transport, hotels and other places are strictly followed, otherwise, strict actions resulting in the closure of the tourism sector may also be considered.

Moreover, the meeting chaired by Asad Umar also emphasized the need for ensuring vaccination of senior citizens as the majority of mortality cases belong to the senior group.

National Command and Operation Center also appreciated the provinces for taking prudent actions for disease control through High Impact Interventions.

Today, according to the official notification, a smart lockdown has been imposed with immediate effect in Sindh due to the rising number of coronavirus infections. The lockdown will remain in place till April 15th, 2021. According to the notification, amusement parks will be closed by 6 pm.

Moreover, indoor weddings will not be allowed. Only outdoor weddings and events will be allowed with the upper limit of 300 persons till 10 pm. Events will be held under defined SOPs. Indoor dining is prohibited. Only outdoor dining, takeaways, and home delivery will be allowed.

Apart from that, indoor gyms, indoor sports facilities, cinemas, theatres, and shrines will remain closed. People have been directed to wear the mask and follow social distancing at all public and private offices. Work from home will be allowed with 50% of the staff in public/private offices.
