The newly-elected Senator from Balochistan, Abdul Qadir on Tuesday has joined Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).

According to the details, Abdul Qadir won the Senate elections from Balochistan on March 3 as an independent candidate with the support from Balochistan Awami Party (BAP).

He also called on Prime Minister Imran Khan and expressed full confidence in him while the premier welcomed him in the party.

It should be mentioned here that the newly elected members of the Senate will be sworn in on March 12 as the tenure of the retiring senators ends March 11.

Prime Minister Imran Khan has nominated Sadiq Sanjrani as the PTI’s candidate for the slot of Senate chairman while the opposition’s Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has announced Yousaf Raza Gillani as its joint candidate.

“Prime Minister Ìmrañ Khan has announced Sadiq Sanjrani for Senate Chairmanship,” a tweet by Minister for Information and Broadcasting Shibli Faraz read.

Earlier Senate elections 2021 ended with the ruling party Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) emerging at the top with 26 seats, followed by PPP with 20. In a major Senate upset, PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gilani secured victory against PTI’s Dr. Abdul Hafeez Sheikh for the general seat.

Gilani had gained 169 votes whereas Abdul Hafeez Shaikh bagged 164 votes.
