The Attorney General of Pakistan (AGP) Khalid Jawed Khan has welcomed the decision by Supreme Court on the Presidential reference seeking open ballot voting in the upcoming Senate elections.

According to the details, AGP while talking about the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s opinion about secret or open balloting in Senate polls termed the verdict ‘historic’.

He said, now it is the Election Commission of Pakistan’s responsibility to implement court opinion in the March 3 elections.

He said the court has clearly asked the Election Commission to use technology in the March 3 Senate election.

Khalid Jawed said the ECP has not yet printed the ballot papers. “The ECB can make the ballot papers identifiable for the Senate election,” Khalid Jawed Khan said.

On the other hand, the top electoral body will hold an important meeting regarding the printing of ballot papers ahead of Senate Elections.

Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Sikandar Sultan Raja will preside the meeting. The top electoral body in its statement also said that Election Commission will respect the opinion of the Supreme Court to hold the elections through secret voting.

The 2021 Pakistani Senate election will be held on 3 March 2021.
