In a major firepower display, Pakistan today conducted successful flight test of Shaheen-1A surface to surface ballistic missile.
According to the statement by Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR), the Shaheen-1A missile is capable of carrying conventional, unconventional weapons up to a range of up to 900 km.
ISPR said that the test flight was aimed at re-validating various design and technical parameters of the weapon system including advanced navigation system.
Earlier Pakistan conducted the successful flight test of Air-Launched Cruise Missile ‘Ra’ad-II’.
According to ISPR, the training launch was aimed at ensuring the operational readiness of Army Strategic Forces Command, responsible for Pakistan’s cruise missile forces.
ISPR added that the air to surface and underwater cruise missile Ra’ad is capable of delivering multiple types of warheads upto 600 KMs.
It is essentially a flying bomb, generally designed to carry a large conventional or nuclear warhead many hundreds of miles with high accuracy. Modern cruise missiles can travel at supersonic or high subsonic speed.
