Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) has decided to field Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) candidate for Deputy Chairmanship of Senate while the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) will get post of Opposition leader in the upper house of parliament.
According to the details, a meeting of steering committee was held under the chair of Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz leader and former prime minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi at his residence. The meeting mulled over the names of candidates for the elections; however an official announcement will be made by PDM head Maulana Fazl-ur Rehman.
It should be noted here that anti-government alliance had decided to nominate former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani as its joint candidate for the upcoming Senate chairman election. The decision was taken during a meeting of the 11-party alliance under the chairmanship of PDM chief Maulana Fazl ur Rehman.
The PDM meeting discussed the future strategy to oust the PTI-led government. The agenda of the meeting included the reviewing of the process of the vote of confidence sought and secured by Prime Minister Imran Khan.
