Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz Vice President Maryam Nawaz has submitted a surety bond for Rs1 million for bail in a Land allotment case.

As per the details, Maryam Nawaz was granted pre-arrest bail by LHC. She was summoned by the National Accountability Bureau on March 26 for a plot allotment case.

The PML-N had earlier appealed to LHC Chief Justice Muhammad Qasim Khan to place a pre-arrest bail application for immediate hearing before the bench.

Counsel for Maryam Azam Nazir Tarar had said to the court that NAB could arrest Maryam. He had said that NAB had often summoned people in connection with one case but had arrested them upon arrival at the NAB office on some other cases.

The Chief Justice had asked the concerned Deputy registrar to immediately place the case for hearing before the bench. As per the details, he has also ordered deputy superintendent police (DSP) security to escort Maryam and other PML-N leaders to the concerned courtroom.

After submitting the bond, Maryam Nawaz addressed a press conference in which she said that causing damage to democratic struggle just to get a minor, inconsequential position in Senate is unfortunate. She said that on one side there are those who are sacrificing their own wellbeing for the public and its right to rule, while on the other side are those who have sacrificed all their principles and narrative for a minor position.

She said, “I am glad that this line has been drawn and that everyone recognizes who is standing where.”
