PM Imran Approves Historic Development Package For Gilgit-Baltistan

Prime Minister Imran Khan has approved a historic development package for Gilgit-Baltistan.

According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Media Office, a high-level meeting on the development of Gilgit-Baltistan was held under the chairmanship of Imran Khan.

The meeting was attended by Planning Minister Asad Umar, Finance Minister Muhammad Hamad Azhar, Communications Minister Murad Saeed, Information Technology Minister Aminul Haq, Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid, Deputy Chairman Planning Commission and other senior officials.

Approving the historic package for the development of Gilgit-Baltistan, the Prime Minister said that thanks to development projects in various sectors, a new chapter of construction and development would be lit in the region, effective solution to the region’s problems and job creation for the youth. Opportunities will also come.

He said that the development of Gilgit-Baltistan is one of the priorities of the present government, adding that there are numerous tourism opportunities in Gilgit-Baltistan which need to be tapped.

The Prime Minister directed the Chief Minister of Gilgit-Baltistan to pay special attention to the promotion of tourism and environmental protection.

Earlier this month, the Gilgit-Baltistan Legislative Assembly unanimously passed a joint resolution demanding that Prime Minister Imran Khan and state institutions give the region temporary provincial status and give it representation in parliament and other constitutional bodies. Be done

The resolution was tabled by PTI on behalf of Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister Khalid Khurshid Khan, PPP Opposition Leader Amjad Hussain Advocate, PML-N’s Ghulam Muhammad, MWM member Muhammad Kazim, JUI-F. (Rahmat Khaliq) and Gilgit-Baltistan Minister Raja Azam Khan.

It may be recalled that in November last year, Minister for Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan Affairs Ali Amin Gandapur had announced that the federal government had decided to give the status of a province to Gilgit-Baltistan.

In December, Prime Minister Imran Khan formed a 12-member committee to make recommendations.
