Prime Minister Imran Khan has on Thursday held a telephonic conversation with Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid (PML-Q) leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi post-Senate Elections 2021, which took place on Wednesday.
PM Imran, during his call, thanked Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi for his role in getting all the Senate candidates elected unopposed from Punjab.
He further discussed the matter of seeking the vote of confidence from the National Assembly (NA) after PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gilani’s victory against PTI’s Hafeez Sheikh.
The Punjab Assembly speaker, in this regard, said that we will always stand like a pillar with the incumbent government.
Elahi further ensured the premier that we will remain the government’s allies.
On the other hand, the Prime Minister also telephoned Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P) leader Khalid Maqbool Siddiqui and discussed the vote of confidence matter with him.
Earlier on Wednesday, Foreign Minister Shah Mahmood Qureshi has said that Prime Minister Imran Khan has decided to take the vote of confidence from the NA.
Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, the Foreign Minister said that this decision came into consideration after a proper settlement with the party members.
PPP’s Yousaf Raza Gilani’s victory in the Senate election clearly shows that they used all negative tactics to win the seat, he added.
FM Qureshi further added, “The nation will now know as to who is standing on which side.”
The PTI will continue its struggle for the transparency of the election process in the country, added the minister.
He went on to add that “the government tried all its efforts to pave way for Senate elections, however, the opposition foiled all such attempts”.
