Holi is considered one of the most celebrated festivals among Hindus. It is also called the “festival of love” as people spread colors and unite together, forgetting all evil thoughts.
According to sources, Holi has been derived from the word ‘Holika’. The event is not new, it was celebrated in the past we well. Historians say that it was celebrated by all Aryans but more so in Eastern areas of India. A detailed history is derived from early religious works such as Jaimini’s Purvamimamsa-Sutras and Kathaka-Grhya-Sutras.
The Holi event begins on the last full moon day of the Hindu lunisolar calendar month. It lasts for two days.
