Malik Shehzad Awan, Member Sindh Assembly from PS-116, sent his resignation to Haleem Adil Sheikh, Leader of Opposition in Sindh Assembly, in which he said that he had also stated in his letters that Amjad Afridi for NA-249 by-election is not a suitable candidate.
He said that one of his letters had the signatures of the local leadership and everyone agreed that the candidate should belong to the same constituency, but despite my letters, the parliamentary board had issued a ticket to Amjad Afridi for the by-poll of NA-249.
Malik Shehzad Awan said that Amjad Afridi was not qualified to hold this seat.
Amjad Afridi is the president of PTI West Karachi District.
It should be noted that Faisal Vawda of PTI had won the general elections from Karachi to National Assembly constituency 249 in 2018 by defeating PML-N president Shahbaz Sharif by a mere 718 votes.
