Chief Minister Punjab Sardar Usman Buzdar has on Monday announced Rs7 billion Ramadan Package in order to provide relief to the needy and the poor.

While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Usman Buzdar said that the government will fulfil all essential commodities and food items to the common people.

Under the announced package, a 10-kilogram flour bag, which was traded at Rs420, would now be given at Rs300.

He further said that the Punjab government will give a subsidy worth Rs 3.5 billion for the trade of wheat flour to people at a more affordable price.

Furthermore, sugar will be available at Rs60 per kilogram at the Ramadan Bazar, which will set up across the province. “Food items will be sold in the Bazars at the rates of the year 2018,” added Buzdar.

Earlier in the day, Sardar Usman Buzdar directed the administration to strictly ensure the compliance of standard operating procedures (SOPs) to curb the spread of the Coronavirus outbreak.

He, in his statement today, termed the current wave of coronavirus in Pakistan as more ‘terrible’ than the previous one.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar had chaired a meeting of the Cabinet Committee on the Eradication of Coronavirus.

He further expressed concerns over the rise in COVID-19 patients in Lahore and other districts.
