Sadiq Sanjrani and Yousaf Raza Gilani have submitted nomination papers for the post of Chairman Senate.

According to the details, the joint candidate of the ruling coalition Sadiq Sanjrani has submitted nomination papers for the slot of Chairman Senate while Mirza Muhammad Afridi submitted nomination papers for the slot of Deputy Chairman Senate. Similarly, joint candidates of the opposition Syed Yousaf Raza Gillani and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri also filed their nomination papers.

The candidates can withdraw their nomination papers any time before the election. The Presiding Officer said that he will ensure that the sanctity of the ballot is maintained at all cost.

The House has now been adjourned till 3 pm this afternoon when election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman would take place.

Earlier in the day, all the 48 newly elected members of the upper house took oath as Senators at session of the house at the parliament house in Islamabad on Friday.
