Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) has challenged the results of the Chairman Senate election in Islamabad High Court.

As per the details, a plea was submitted by the lawyer of the PPP candidate for the Senate election. The lawyer stated in the plea that the rejection of seven votes of Yousaf Raza Gillani was illegal.

According to details, PPP has requested the court to nullify the rejection of votes. PPP has also declared Yousaf Raza Gillani as Chairman Senate.

Government candidate Sadiq Sanjrani was re-elected chairman of the Senate, while Mirza Muhammad Afridi was elected deputy chairman, while Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) candidates Yousuf Raza Gilani and Maulana Abdul Ghafoor Haideri have faced defeat.

As per the details, 98 members of the Upper House voted for the election of Chairman and Deputy Chairman of the Senate. Chairman Senate Sadiq Sanjrani got 48 votes while his opponent Yousuf Raza Gilani got 42 votes and 7 votes were rejected. And one vote was rejected for marking both candidates.

PPP decides to approach Islamabad High Court against Sanjrani’s win in Senate

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) had earlier decided to challenge the victory of Sadiq Sanjrani as Chairman Senate in the Islamabad High Court (IHC).

According to the details, a consultative meeting of the party was held under the chairmanship of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto. Yousuf Raza Gilani, Raja Pervez Ashraf, Sherry Rehman and others attended the meeting. The meeting agreed to continue the constitutional and legal battle against the government of Pakistan Tehreek e Insaf (PTI).
