Sindh Government takes notice of record hike in chicken prices

The Government of Sindh on Wednesday took notice of the increase in chicken prices in Karachi and directed the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners, and Commissioner to take immediate action against the profiteers.

In this regard, the Price and Control Department has issued a letter to Commissioner Karachi and Deputy Commissioners.

In the letter, the Sindh government has asked why the administration is silent on the price hike? The sale of goods at the issued price list is the responsibility of the district administration. “Rising prices are tarnishing the image of the government.” The letter read.

Sindh Government also directed the Deputy Commissioner, Assistant Commissioners, and Commissioners Karachi to take immediate action against those violating the law and make sure that citizens getting the goods at rates fixed by the government.

Price and Control Department in a separate statement that Karachi is witnessing an increase in prices of chicken and milk, and a clear violation by traders, manufacturers, and shopkeepers who are raising prices by themselves and no action has been taken against them.

The price and Control department added that strict legal action should be taken against profiteers and blackmailers.
