Sindh Government ‘Appreciated’ for dealing with COVID-19 crisis responsibly

Amid the increasing number of cases of Coronavirus, the Sindh government has issued a new order regarding COVID-19 SOPs.

According to details, in view of Coronavirus, Sindh Home Department has issued an order regarding SOPs. The new SOPs will be applicable till April 11.

Wedding ceremonies have been banned in Sindh from April 6, under which indoor and outdoor wedding ceremonies will be banned.

The order said a complete ban on social events, including rallies while locking down areas where 8% of coronavirus reported, would also restrict movement.

The order further added that the shopping malls would remain open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. while eating inside the restaurant would be prohibited and the restaurant is allowed to remain open until 10 p.m.

The order issued by the Sindh Home Department further said that it has been decided to keep business centres open from 6 am to 8 pm while masks are mandatory in offices and public places and 50 per cent staff will work from home.

Earlier today, Prime Minister Imran Khan directed authorities to strictly ensure the implementation of COVID-19 SOPs and highlighted that the third-wave is more lethal in comparison to the earlier two.

According to the details, a meeting of the National Coordination Committee (NCC) for COVID-19 was held in Islamabad. Prime Minister Imran Khan chaired the meeting via video link.

The meeting discussed the prevailing situation of the pandemic.

Speaking on the occasion, Prime Minister Imran Khan said that, ‘We cannot afford a complete lockdown, as it will affect the working class.’ Imran Khan added that the health protocols must be followed to curb the spread of the novel coronavirus.

Imran Khan said that ‘The smart lockdown policy will remain in place, our smart lockdown policy has been successful before as well.’

Let it be known that Pakistan recorded 78 more deaths due to Coronavirus over the last 24 hours.

According to the latest statistics issued by National Command and Operation Center (NCOC), 4,757 new positive cases have been reported in the country after conducting tests of 43,965 people during the same period.

Moreover, the death toll due to the COVID-19 pandemic has now reached 14,434 while the number of active cases is 50,397. As many as 603,126 patients have been recovered from the disease since the outbreak.
