Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar on Wednesday has approved the establishment of Punjab Sahulat Bazar Authority.
According to the details, the Chief Minister has decided to abolish Punjab Model Bazaar Management Company and launch Sahulat Bazar Authority in a bid to provide relief to the masses on broader level.
Chief Minister Usman Buzdar will be the Patron-in-Chief of the Authority and the Provincial Minister for Industry will be the Chairperson.
The Punjab Chief Minister said that special platforms for farmers would also be set up in the new markets, through which farmers will be able to sell their products directly.
Usman Buzdar said that the scope of Sahulat bazaar would be extended to every district and every tehsil, and these new markets will would remain functional 365 days a year.
He said that this step has been taken to provide relief from inflation. The authority will set up more than 400 convenience markets across the province.
On Monday this week, Chief Minister Punjab Usman Buzdar has on Monday announced Rs7 billion Ramadan Package in order to provide relief to the needy and the poor.
While addressing a press conference in Lahore, Usman Buzdar said that the government will fulfil all essential commodities and food items to the common people.
Under the announced package, a 10-kilogram flour bag, which was traded at Rs420, would now be given at Rs300.
He further said that the Punjab government will give a subsidy worth Rs 3.5 billion for the trade of wheat flour to people at a more affordable price.
Furthermore, sugar will be available at Rs 60 per kilogram at the Ramadan Bazar, which will set up across the province. “Food items will be sold in the Bazars at the rates of the year 2018,” added Buzdar.
