Former President Asif Ali Zardari has extended an apology to Maryam Nawaz after his remarks about Nawaz Sharif during the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting in Lahore.
According to sources, Zardari said, “I never wished to hurt you or your family through my remarks.”
To which the PML-N leader responded saying: “It was never my intent to have you apologize. I merely counted myself a daughter to you and complained as Bakhtawar or Aseefa would.”
Asif Zardari Demands Nawaz Sharif To Fly Back To Pakistan
Addressing the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) meeting via video link, Zardari asked the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) supremo Nawaz Sharif to return to Pakistan for the conclusive political battle.
He had asked Mian Nawaz Sharif to fly back to Pakistan and then the PPP party lawmakers would submit their resignations to him.
The former President also reminded, “Mass resignations will only strengthen the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government.”
“If Nawaz Sharif is serious in his battle for democracy, then he should fly back to the country,” added Zardari.
“Everyone will have to face the hardships in this battle if we are in for a decisive battle (for democracy),” he added more.
He went on to add, “PDM long march can only be a successful show if Nawaz Sharif returns to the country.”
“Just like you are on video link, so is Mian sahab”: Maryam Nawaz
Maryam Nawaz addressed him and replied that just like you are on the video link, Nawaz Sharif is also on the video link.
She expressed concern that Nawaz Sharif’s life is in danger in the custody of the National Accountability Bureau (NAB).
“My father has had two heart attacks in jail,” Maryam said.
Maryam Nawaz said that despite being the largest party, the PML-N supported the PDM, followed the decisions of the PDM PML-N members, voted for Yousuf Raza Gilani.
She further asked: “Does Zardari sahab guarantee that my father’s life will not be in danger in Pakistan?”
“My father left my mother on her death bed and came back to Pakistan,” she added more.
