Prime Minister Imran Khan on Thursday said that his government is focusing on wealth creation projects to retire the country’s debt.
According to the details, Prime Minister Imran Khan performed the groundbreaking of Farash Town apartments in Islamabad under Naya Pakistan Housing program.
While addressing the event, Imran Khan said that the new project is aimed at providing shelter to the underprivileged segments of the society including workers and labourers.
Imran Khan said that the government has also prepared a plan to convert the slums and equip them with modern facilities including that of sanitation and sewerage. Adding that ‘the projects to be executed under Naya Pakistan Housing Program will also uplift the thirty industries allied with the construction sector.’
Prime Minister, in addition to this, expressed satisfaction over increased activity in the construction industry.
He said that growth has also been recorded in the tax collection which indicates the business activity has increased in the country.
Earlier this month, it was reported that the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has surpassed its tax collection target of Rs 36 billion in March 2021 to Rs 475 billion, the highest monthly collection in the current financial year (FY 2021). The recovery target for the month of March was set at Rs 439 billion, an increase of 8.2 per cent to Rs 475 billion, while revenue of Rs 326 was collected in March 2020, compared to an increase of 46 per cent.
The FBR collected revenue of Rs 33.94 trillion in the first nine months of the current financial year, which is Rs 100 billion more than the target of Rs 32.87 trillion.
So far this year, refunds of Rs 177 billion have been issued as against Rs 102 billion during the same period last year, an increase of 74 per cent.
