Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair a meeting of the federal cabinet in Islamabad.

According to the details, a 22 point agenda will be discussed in the meeting which will include briefing of vacant posts of heads of government agencies and also the appointment of Chairman Board of Pakistan International Airlines Corporation Limited (PIACL).

Electronic voting machines and voting rights of Overseas Pakistanis, appointment of Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) board members, approval of maximum retail price of medicines, matter of amending the Rules of Business 1973 and approval for the appointment of NEPRA members will be taken in the agenda of cabinet.

The approval of the maximum retail price of Coronavirus vaccine is also expected. The Cabinet will also ratify the decisions of the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) and Cabinet Committee on Disposal of Legislative Cases (CCLC).

On Wednesday the Economic Coordination Committee at its meeting fixed the wheat support price at 1800 rupees per forty kilogram to provide relief to the farmers.

Hammad Azhar, the Finance Minister said it has also been decided to import five hundred thousand tons of sugar from India to improve the supply situation and to provide direct benefit to the common man.

Keeping in view the demand of Cotton, the Finance Minister said the ECC on the proposal of Ministry of Commerce has accorded approval for the import of cotton from India by the end of June.

The Finance Minister said the government is fully cognizant of the problems faced by the people due to price hike and is working day and night to overcome this issue with the close coordination of the provincial governments.
