Tourist Places In Punjab To Remain Closed Till April 11

The Punjab Tourism Department has decided to keep tourist destinations and tourist activities closed till April 11 due to increasing cases of Coronavirus.

A statement issued by the tourism department said that the third wave of Corona in the country is on the rise and especially in Punjab, so it has been suggested to close the historical places in the province.

The notification said that after the closure of educational institutions, orders for 50 per cent of staff in the public and private sectors to work from home, the public is likely to turn to historical sites and other tourist points, further spreading the coronavirus.

The provincial government said that this was the reason for the discouragement of large gatherings and the closure of tourist spots in Punjab in view of the growing number of corona cases.

According to the notification, Shalimar Garden, Jahangir Mausoleum and Hiran Minar are among the historical sites that will remain closed.

This decision has been made in the wider public interest, which will help stop the rise in cases of coronavirus.

According to the Punjab Health Department, places across the province that will remain closed include Murree Safari Train, Charehan resort, Ghora Gali Restaurants.

Lahore includes Jalori Resort, Wagah Border, Klar Kahar Resort, Klar Kahar Wrestling, Soon Valley Kallar Kahar, ITHM Lahore, ITMM Rawalpindi, Changa Manga and Lal Suhanra National Park Bahawalpur.

According to the tourism department, Punjab has closed all tourist destinations and restaurants in Galyat besides tourist buses plying in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Bahawalpur.

It may be recalled that the NCOC had decided last month to impose more sanctions in view of the growing number of corona cases in the country, saying that the bans would remain in force till April 11.

The NCOC at its meeting had decided to impose lockdown in 10 cities of the country where the rate of positive cases is more than 8%, and there will be no movement except in case of emergency.

These cities include Islamabad, Lahore, Multan, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, Bahawalpur, Hyderabad, Peshawar, Swat and Muzaffarabad.

Later, the Punjab Education Minister announced closure of educational institutions in certain districts till April 11 and in a message on Twitter, he said that all in Lahore, Rawalpindi, Gujranwala, Gujarat, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, Sargodha and Sheikhupura.
