Traffic police have tightened the rules to enforce standard operating procedures (SOPs) to control the spread of coronavirus pandemic.

As per the details, 23,875 challans have been issued for cars and motorcycles by traffic police in three days in Lahore over violation of SOPs.

Moreover, 12 cases have been filed for not following the orders in public transport whereas officials have seized 181 vehicles for traveling with more than 50 percent passenger capacity.

Apart from that, 918 cases have been filed in six days against those violating SOPs in the metropolis. On the other hand, 442 cases have been lodged at various police stations for not wearing face masks.

Coronavirus cases are alarmingly increasing as 5,234 new cases have been reported in the last 24 hours, the highest figure since June 2020.

National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) updates that 83 patients have lost their battle against Covid-19 as the death toll reached 14,613. The total number of confirmed infections is 678,165.

Till now, 10,297,544 tests have been conducted so far and 50,170 tests have been conducted in the last 24 hours.
