Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Bajwa has on Wednesday held a meeting with Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud during his visit to Pakistan.
According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud and COAS Bajwa discussed matters of bilateral interests, evolving security situation of the region including the Afghanistan Peace Process and collaboration for regional peace and connectivity.
Assuring Pakistan of firm support, the foreign minister of KSA appreciated the sincere efforts and the role Pakistan played in promoting peace and stability in the region.
In his remarks, the Army Chief said that the relations between Saudi Arabia and Pakistan are based on bonds of brotherhood and mutual trust as both nations will continue to play their part for peace and stability.
Furthermore, Bajwa appreciated Saudi leadership for KSA’s support to Pakistan and its Armed Forces.
On the other hand, Saudi Foreign Minister Prince Faisal Bin Farhan Al Saud has met Prime Minister Imran Khan on Tuesday.
PM Imran Khan extended a warm welcome to the Saudi foreign minister and reaffirmed deep-rooted and historic bonds between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
The premier sent cordial greetings for King Salman Bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. PM Khan has fondly recalled his visit to Saudi Arabia in May 2021.
In line with the decisions taken on the occasion, PM Khan highlighted the assiduous follow-up and stressed the need for exploring new avenues of cooperation to further deepen bilateral relations in diverse fields.
PM Imran Khan particularly emphasised the need for strengthening the economic dimension of the relationship and taking steps for realizing the vast possibilities in the trade, investment and energy fields.
He appreciated the work related to the activation of the Saudi-Pakistan Supreme Coordination Council (SPSCC), which is the highest level platform designed to impart strategic direction to the development of Pakistan-Saudi Arabia relations.
They also discussed the pandemic situation in both countries and in South Asia.
Thanking the premier for the warm welcome accorded to the Saudi delegation, Prince Faisal underscored the importance that Saudi Arabia attaches to its strong relationship with Pakistan, based on bonds of brotherhood.
Earlier on Tuesday, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) headquarters, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.
COAS General Qamar Javed Bajwa was given a detailed operational brief regarding the genesis of ANF and its contributions to controlling drug trafficking in Pakistan.
While interacting with the officers and staff, COAS said that drug peddlers and those involved in its production are a threat to national security and relentless enemies of humanity.
“Drug money is being used for the promotion of terrorism and therefore, it is important that drug dealers are dealt with iron hands.”
