Kerry praises Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project

ISLAMABAD: Senator John Kerry, the US Presidential Envoy for Climate Change, praised Pakistan’s contribution in reducing global environmental degradation and said that Washington is willing to cooperate with Islamabad to address climate change concerns collaboratively.

These statements were delivered by John Kerry during a discussion with Malik Amin Aslam, Special Assistant to the Prime Minister (SAPM) on Climate Change, during the UNFCCC 26th Conference of Parties meeting in London.

He praised Prime Minister Imran Khan’s Ten Billion Tree Tsunami initiative and commended him for his “green vision.”

The Ten Billion Tree Tsunami project, according to the US presidential envoy, is the finest project in the world for environmental protection. He also praised the prime minister’s decision to phase out coal-fired power facilities from the energy mix.

Both parties committed to working together to address climate change risks at the conference and formed a joint working group in this regard.

Senator John Kerry praised Prime Minister Imran Khan’s “green vision” in dealing with global environmental concerns.

SAPM on Climate Change Malik Amin Aslam briefed the Senator on the clean green projects of the government.

He praised US President Joe Biden’s efforts to lead the world in environmental preservation. According to the SAPM, “Pakistan applauds US President Barack Obama’s environmental efforts and objectives. Global environmental problems will be handled in a peaceful way under President Biden’s leadership.”

He stated that Pakistan will collaborate with the Joint Working Group to take effective steps to address the global climate change challenge. Meanwhile, on his official Twitter account, the SAPM said, “Very productive meeting with @ClimateEnvoy Sen John Kerry at @UNFCCC #UK @COP26 ministerial meeting – #Pakistan under green leadership of  @ImranKhanPTI looks forwards to collaborating with #US @POTUS Government on #ClimateChange and #Nature.”
