Parents Claim She Left House Carrying Huge Amount Of Money

ISLAMABAD:  The case of Noor Mukadam, a 27-year-old woman who was brutally killed by Zahir Jaffer has taken a new turn as further details have been unveiled by her parents.

Investigations into the case took a new turn when her parents informed the police that Noor was carrying a large amount of money when she left the house and asked her mother on call to send some more amount.

  • Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid said that the accused in the Noor Mukadam case has been blacklisted and a summary will be sent this week for inclusion in the ECL.

Talking to the media in Islamabad, he said that no concession would be made in this case, wishing such a system in this country the perpetrators of corruption and murder could be executed as soon as possible.

“I want a Chinese-style system where murderers and corrupt people are punished on the spot,” he said.

The Home Minister said, “The police are conducting as many investigations as they can. No concessions are being made to anyone.”

Earlier today, a local court in Islamabad has extended the physical remand of Zahir Zakir Jaffer, accused in the murder of Noor Mukadam, daughter of former Pakistani ambassador, for two more days.

Noor, 27, daughter of former Pakistani ambassador Shaukat Mukadam, a resident of Posh Sector F-7/4, Islamabad, was brutally killed.

An FIR was lodged against Zahir Zakir Jaffer and the victim’s father had lodged a complaint. The accused was arrested in the case registered under the charge of murder under section 302 of the Pakistan Penal Code.

After completion of 2 days physical remand, the accused was produced in District and Sessions Court Islamabad today and after hearing the arguments, Magistrate Sohaib Bilal Ranjha extended the remand of Zahir Zakir Jaffer for two more days and directed that the accused He will be produced in court again on July 28.

Accused Zahir Zakir Jaffer was brought to the court premises under tight security and during this time the courtroom became dark due to a power outage.

During the hearing held in the light of the mobile phone, Prosecutor Sajid Cheema told the court that an autopsy has been conducted on Noor Mukadam and the weapon used in her murder has also been recovered.

He told the court that sections 109, 176, 201 and 511 of the Pakistan Penal Code have been added.

Sajid Cheema said that four other accused have been arrested in connection with the murder.

During the hearing, the accused started screaming in the courtroom that he could not hear anything.

The court directed the accused to enter the courtroom.

Ansar Nawaz Mirza, counsel for the accused, told the court that the investigating officer had remanded him in custody for seven days while apparently no further physical remand was required for Zakir Jaffer.

He said in his arguments that the police had already obtained a five-day remand while the mobile phone numbers of both the victim and the accused were available in the case.

Later, the court granted two more days extension in the physical remand of Zahir Zakir Jaffer, accused in the murder of Noor Mukadam, daughter of former Pakistani ambassador.

It is believed that the accused had claimed that he has American citizenship.

Responding to a question from accused Zahir Zakir Jaffer in the court premises, he said that his life was in danger.

“I was not contacted by the US embassy,” he said.

It may be recalled that the police had initially said that the girl was also stabbed with a sharp instrument after firing while another person was injured in the incident and the girl’s friend Zahir Zakir Jaffer was allegedly involved in the incident.

The brutal murder of Noor Mukadam has sparked a new debate in the federal capital over the safety of women, and thousands of tweets have been made on the social networking site Twitter with the hashtag ‘Justice for Noor’.

This is the third brutal attack on a woman in the country in the last few days.
