At least three people were killed and two others received critical wounds after an accidental explosion occurred in one of the plants of the Pakistan Ordnance Factories (POF) on Thursday, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said.

The explosion in POF occurred due to some technical fault during the routine operation of a plant. The injured have been taken to hospital in Wah Cantt for medical assistance.

The ISPR added that the technical emergency response team at the POF has freed the accidental site and the situation is under control.

The windows of nearby buildings were shattered by the intensity of the blast, sources said.

On the other hand, on Friday morning, a Pakistan Army soldier Naik Zia-ud-Din, a resident of Mardan, got critically injured and embraced martyrdom during the intense exchange of fire as terrorists targeted a military post in Sararogha, South Waziristan District.

According to Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), on the night of 11/12 August, a Pakistan Army military post in Sararogha detected a suspicious move of 3-4 terrorists in its area of responsibility.

A Quick Reaction Force (QRF) was immediately dispatched to challenge the suspected terrorists; however, the troops were fired upon, ISPR said.

Due to effective response, one terrorist got killed and another was apprehended in injured condition, added the military media wing.

The apprehended terrorist later revealed that they planned to conduct a fire raid on the military post.
