President Dr Arif Alvi has on Thursday (today) said that India has imposed unprecedented military siege and restrictions on fundamental rights and freedoms of the Kashmiris but has failed to break the will of the Kashmiri people.

In his message on Youm-e-Istehsal, President Alvi said Pakistan solidly stands by Kashmiris in their just struggle for the right to self-determination and will continue to highlight the Jammu and Kashmir (J&K) dispute at the international fora.

He said a just and peaceful settlement of the Jammu and Kashmir dispute, in accordance with relevant UN Security Council resolutions and the wishes of the Kashmiri people, is indispensable for durable peace and stability in South Asia.

He also requested the international community to call upon India to end its campaign of repression and human rights violations in IIOJK and reverse all its illegal actions, including those initiated on and after 5 August 2019.

“India must cease and desist from imposing any additional unilateral changes in the occupied territory,” he said.

PM Vows To Stand With The Oppressed People Of IIOJ&K

Prime Minister Imran Khan has reaffirmed Pakistan’s lasting support to the Kashmir cause and vowed to continue to extend all possible assistance to Kashmiris till the fulfilment of their absolute right to self-determination.

PM Imran Khan said, “Today marks two years since India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK). These actions were followed by unprecedented military siege and restrictions on fundamental rights and freedoms of the Kashmiri people to perpetuate Indian occupation in the occupied territory.”

“Yet, India has failed to break the will of Kashmiri people. Kashmiris face unabated extra-judicial killings, custodial tortures and deaths, arbitrary detentions, burning and looting of houses to inflict collective punishment, and other worst forms of human rights abuses.”

“India’s illegal and unilateral actions of 5 August 2019 and subsequent measures particularly pertaining to domicile rules and the land ownership laws are aimed at changing the demographic structure of IIOJK and converting the Kashmiris into a minority in their own land,” said the premier.

He added, “These measures are in blatant violation of international law including the UN Charter, the United Nations Security Council Resolutions, and the 4thGeneva Convention. Pakistan, the Kashmiris, and the international community forcefully rejected these steps.”
