Nazir Chohan likely to be inducted in Punjab’s Cabinet
LAHORE: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) MPA from Punjab Nazir Chohan is sepcted to meet Prime Minister Imran Khan at the Governor House, sources told BOL News on Wednesday.
MPA Chohan belonged to Jahnagir Tareen’s like-minded group before his arrest on July 27 following a complaint launched against him by prime minister’s aide Shahzad Akbar.
Chohan parted ways from Tareen’s like-minded group on August 4 when Punjab Minister for Prisons Fayyazul Hassan Chohan played a pivotal role in breaking the ice between the two PTI leaders; following which he was released from the jail.
The sources said MPA Chohan will personally apologise to the premier for his remarks, which he made against the party head when he was part of Tareen’s group.
“It is quite likely that Nazir Chohan will be inducted in [the] Punjab Cabinet after he personally apologises to the premier,” a party insider told BOL News.
The sources also said along with being PTI’s Punjab spokesperson, Fayyazul Hassan Chohan will also be given the important task of dismantling Tareen’s like-minded group.
Although Fayyazul Hassan Chohan has denied that he has not been given such a task, reliable sources have confirmed to BOL News that he, in fact, has been asked to approach the disgruntled leaders.
“Tareen like-minded group’s presence in [the] Punjab Assembly is a threat to the Buzdar-led Punjab government, especially at a time when Pakistan Muslim League (PML-Q), which is PTI’s ally is also unhappy with the PTI leadership,” a party source added.
“If he manages to win back [the] disgruntled leaders from the like-minded group, giving him a position in the provincial cabinet will not be an unfair deal,” another party leader told BOL News.
He also said it won’t be an easy task for MPA Chohan or Prisons Minister Fayyazul Hassan Chohan because Tareen enjoys a very strong bonding with his group members and they religiously follow him.
“We have seen the example of Awn Chaudhry who left his lucrative post in Buzdar’s cabinet but didn’t leave Tareen,” he added.
A senior party leader said it will be a Herculean task to win back the trust of the disgruntled leaders who have proved their loyalties to Tareen.
“In such a scenario, Nazir Chohan deserves to be given the slot of a minister in the provincial cabinet; it might help him win back the trust of disgruntled leaders from the like-minded group,” a senior party leader concluded.
