Captain Bijrani of Airbus A-320 was waiting for clearance from air traffic control when the Taliban took control of Kabul on Sunday.
However, a cabin crew told him to “decide for yourself” on which he decided to fly PIA Flight 6252 to Islamabad.
PIA’s Airbus A-320 was stopped when a state of emergency was declared at Kabul Airport, with black smoke billowing from the surrounding hills.
A crew member said that in such a situation, the captain suddenly decided to fly to Islamabad after announcing to fly.
He added that the plane took off at high speed after starting because the captain was following two warplanes flying in front of him.
When the captain announced his entry into Pakistani territory, the crew breathed a sigh of relief, after which the plane landed at Islamabad Airport at 7:10 p.m.
When the plane landed at the airport and its door opened, a PIA crew member boarded the plane and told the crew that they had an important note from the CEO for the captain.
In his message, the CEO commended Captain Maqsood Bijarni for bringing back the flight after the situation in Kabul deteriorated because he flew safely in a bad situation after informing the PIA administration.
