Fifty years have passed since the bravery and great sacrifice of national hero Rashid Minhas Shaheed.

Today is the 50th day of martyrdom of Rashid Minhas Shaheed Nishan Haider, the great son of the motherland who made the history of courage, bravery and wrote the golden chapter of Pakistan.

Rashid Minhas was born in Karachi on February 17, 1951. During his education, Rashid was very hardworking and enthusiastic to join aviation. After the initial training, he was sent to Masroor Air Base as a pilot officer for combat training and conversion.

On August 20, 1971, Flight Lieutenant Matiur Rehman boarded a training flight to Kuan. Mati hit the young pilot for his nefarious purposes and diverted the plane to India.

Rashid Minhas, while sacrificing his life for the homeland, thwarted the conspiracy of the enemy, turned the ship towards the ground and martyred the enemy by crushing his intentions to dust.

Rashid Minhas was awarded the highest military award, Nishan Haider, by Pakistan for his courage and bravery while Rashid Minhas is the youngest martyr to receive the Haider Medal.

Kamra Air Base in Attock has been named after Rashid Minhas Shaheed. The nation will always be proud of the sacrifice and deeds of the son of the soil.

Rashid Minhas is laid to rest in Karachi’s military cemetery.

Paying homage to the martyred pilot of Pakistan Air Force Rashid Minhas on the 50th day of martyrdom, DG ISPR said that in line of duty, Pilot offr Rashid Minhas lived up to the great traditions of the Pakistan Air Force defending the motherland.

On a message on Twitter DG ISPR further wrote, “on 5Oth Martyrdom anniversary, we remember with reverence, bravery & supreme sacrifice of National Hero Pilot officer Rashid Minhas Shaheed, Nishan-e -Haider.”
