Pakistan celebrates Eid Milad-Un-Nabi with religious fervour

ISLAMABAD: Eid Milad-un-Nabi, a day of spiritual significance, is being celebrated across the country and the world today with traditional zeal and fervour.

The day began with a 31 and 21 gun salute in Islamabad and other provincial capitals respectively followed by processions and rallies in honour of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The day has been declared a public holiday in Pakistan.

Streets and roads, as well as bazaars, shopping centres and important buildings, have been decorated and illuminated with colourful lights, flags and buntings inscribed with Prophet Muhammad’s (PBUH) sayings and Quranic verses and slogans.

Meanwhile, additional security forces have been also deployed to maintain law and order.

Devotees are offering special prayers in mosques across the country for the flourishing of Islam and unity, solidarity, progress, and prosperity of the Muslim Ummah.

State and religious organisations, Milad committees and individuals have planned several activities, including processions, seminars, conferences and discussion programmes to mark the annual event.

Rehmatul-Lil-Aalameen conference

A national Rehmatul-Lil-Aalameen conference is also being held in Islamabad today. The two-day conference titled ‘Role of Masjid, Madaris, Khanqas and Imambargahs for the promotion of unity and harmony in the light of teachings of the Holy Prophet (PBUH)’ had started yesterday.

There will be two sessions today. President Arif Alvi will preside over the first session, while Prime Minister Imran Khan will chair the last session of the event.

Eid Milad-Un-Nabi marks the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The most important part of this great day is focusing upon the character of the Holy Prophet (PBUH); on his teachings, sufferings, and how he forgave even his most bitter enemies.

Some Muslims donate to charity. Families gather together, feasts are prepared, and food is served to guests and the poor.
