PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Health Department on Tuesday has launched a massive campaign against Measles and Rubella in 36 districts of the province.

“13,364 teams will administer vaccines to children aged between 9 months and 15 years. Polio vaccines will also be administered to the kids”, said KP Health Department in a statement issued on their official Twitter handle.

Health Minister Taimur Khan Jhagra formally inaugurated the national Measles and Rubella Prevention Campaign today, the department said.

The statement added that the children were vaccinated against measles and rubella and given polio drops. This is the biggest campaign in the history of the country and the province which will continue for 12 days. 13664 members teams have been formed for the campaign.

Earlier on Sunday, the National Command and Operations Center (NCOC) had decided to stop giving out jabs of the Covid-19 vaccine to children aged 12 to 15 years.

The principal body governing, implementing national COVID-19 efforts, has been decided to temporarily suspend the vaccination of 12 to 15-year-old children from 15 to 27 November, BOL News reported.

The NCOC explained that the decision to suspend the vaccination was taken due to the national anti-measles and rubella vaccination campaign which will continue from November 15 to 27.
