ISLAMABAD: Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Chaudhry Fawad Hussain on Sunday expressed deep grief and sorrow over the loss of precious human lives in the tragic accident of a Lahore private school trip coaster at Dina.

The incident with innocent children was really tragic, Chaudhry Fawad said in a statement.

The federal minister shared the grief of the families of teachers and students who lost their lives in the road mishap.

The minister prayed to Allah Almighty to rest the departed souls in eternal peace and give courage to the bereaved families to bear this loss with fortitude.

The minister also prayed for a speedy recovery of the injured.

At least three people including two female students were killed and 15 others injured as a coaster fell off a bridge on GT Road in the Dina area of Jhelum city on Sunday.

Rescue officials said the 15 injured people were shifted to Rural Health Centre Dina. Four of the injured were in critical condition, said the rescue officials adding that the reason behind the accident could not be ascertained so far. They said the coaster was going to Murree from Lahore.

Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar has expressed grief over the incident. He also expressed his heartfelt sympathy and condolences to the bereaved families. Usman Bazdar has sought a report from the Rawalpindi Division commissioner and Rawalpindi regional police officer on the tragic accident.

On November 29, at least three people were killed and nine others wounded in a road accident near Landhi Bacha Jail in Karachi.

Rescue sources had said the coaster van was carrying employees of a private van that turned turtle after colliding with a passenger bus. The deceased and injured had been shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) for post-mortem and treatment respectively, they had said.

The sources had said the identification process of the victims was underway.
