Govt has got members of opposition who will not vote against PM: Rashid

ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Sheikh Rashid Ahmed on Thursday said the government had support of members of the opposition, who would not go to cast votes against Prime Minister Imran Khan in the no-confidence motion session of the National Assembly.

“If they have our members then we also have theirs,” Sheikh Rashid said talking to media in Islamabad.

He said it was a fight of self-respect and the establishment was with the government. The Pakistan Army was a great institution and judiciary had sagacious thinking, he said adding that the campaign against military and judiciary on social media was unacceptable.

On rumours about Punjab Chief Minister Usman Buzdar, the interior minister said nobody was being removed from his post. “Reports are circulating that Usman Buzdar is going. Nobody is going anywhere. Buzdar is standing with Imran Khan like a rock,” he said.

He said the government had a good relation with its allies. “From today onwards, good news will start coming,” he said. The national politics would be decisive within 10 days, he said.

Sheikh Rashid said Imran would address a historical rally at the Parade Ground on March 27.

He also asked the Pakistan Muslim League-N to provide schedule and route of its long march so that arrangements could be made accordingly. “The interior ministry will not be responsible if anything happens tomorrow,” he said.

He said the PML-N had submitted no application regarding a route.
