QUETTA: A brother of the central labor secretary of the Balochistan National Party (BNP) was shot dead by unidentified gunmen at Qambrani Road area of Quetta on Monday.

According to details, a man Saeed Ahmed Baloch was shot dead by armed men in Kashmirabad on Qambrani Road. The suspects escaped after committing the crime. The body was handed over to heirs after due process.

The slain was brother of BNP Central Labor Secretary Musa Baloch and Central Council member Faizullah Baloch.

BNP President MNA Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal condemned the killing of the brother of the party’s central labor secretary and said that a series of targeted killings had started once again.

In his message on social networking site, Twitter, Sardar Akhtar Jan Mengal said that once again targeted killings had been started and the BNP workers were being targeted.

A protest sit-in was organised with the body by the BNP on Sariab Road. The sit-in was called off after successful talks between the protesters and Sariab assistant commissioner.

Participants of the sit-in included Parliamentary Leader Malik Naseer Ahmad Shahwani, Central Committee Member and District President Ghulam Nabi Murree, MPA Akhtar Hussain Langau, Ahmad Nawaz Baloch, Central Executive Committee Member Haji Wali Muhammad Lehri and District Senior Vice President Malik Mohi-ud-Din Lahri, District Deputy General Secretary Dr Ali Ahmad Qambrani District Finance Secretary Mir Akram Bangalzai, District Human Rights Secretary Prince Razzaq Baloch, District Professional Secretary Mir Mustafa Samalani and others.

“We will not be discouraged by such incidents. The BNP is a party of martyrs who have always not spared any sacrifice for Balochistan,” said speakers while addressing participants of the protest. They demanded that the killers of Saeed Ahmed Baloch be arrested within six days.

“Otherwise, we will not end the sit-in on Sariab Road,” they added. After successful negotiations with the protesters by the district administration and senior police officials, the sit-in was called off and the road was restored to traffic.

According to the Sariab assistant commissioner, efforts were being made by the law enforcement agencies to arrest the accused. Soon the accused would be behind the bars, he said.
